I started making art soon after seeing authentic African artwork at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art. I was in total awe. Lakitana was inspired by my visit there.
Lakitana is mounted on a 9"x 12" painted canvas. I spent about 4 hours or more just fixing Lakita's hair and attaching beads!
Lakitana has over 50 feet of 16 gauge wire for hair and over 50 raku beads.
Lakitana has a tri tone pale amber, green, and brown crackle face with rust brown lips.
Strands of copper wire, white beads, textured cloth and canvas complete Lakitana's headdress.
