I was instantly impacted by the authentic African artwork I saw at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art, leading me to start making art shortly after. Yembe was inspired by this visit, featuring a brown complexion and big hair adorned with several spiral coils handmade Raku beads and over 30 ft of hand-twisted 16 and 24 gauge wire.
