I was immediately captivated by the authentic African artwork in the Smithsonian Museum of African Art, and soon thereafter began creating art myself. Abebe, which roughly translates to “flower or blossom”, is an homage to my awe-inspiring visit. Measuring 5”x 14” and weighing 1 lb, Abebe is equipped with a stunning honey brown complexion and earthy white spiral beads that encircle her coils of hair.
